Summit Hockey at the Snow King Sports & Events Center in Jackson, WY conducts annual tryout for Select Squirt Hockey teams to compete at the AA level.  This program is intended to complement players’ existing hockey association teams while providing an opportunity for advanced ability players to compete at the highest regional & national levels. All local and regional players are invited to attend tryouts in Jackson, WY. Players must be in good standing with their local USA Youth Hockey association to try-out and, if selected for the team, participate with the Summit Selects’ team. Players must maintain good standing, throughout the season, with their local association to maintain eligibility for the Summit Selects’ program.  Players who are unable to attend tryouts will be invited to future practices for consideration.  The team will consist of 14 players and 2 goalies, with some special considerations made.

Practices and games will be scheduled around local association games and tournaments to avoid conflicts with local association teams, and the Summit Selects’ will seek to compete in higher level tournaments as schedules/interest allow.  Practice will be demanding, but the singular goal is to give our players the best high-level competitive training and experience in the inter-mountain west. Summit Selects is managed by Bob Carruth, a founding Jackson Youth Hockey coach with more than 25 years experience at many levels.  Bob coached four JYH players who have gone on to play NCAA Division 1 and/or were drafted into the NHL.  While living in Minnesota, Bob coached 17 players to the Division 1 ranks and 5 drafted to the NHL.  Team coaches will be announced at tryouts.
